  1. Clubs, drinks, and prices have changed so much that perhaps they are not the social/communal gathering places (similar to English pubs) they used to be. Also, they’re no longer as coed as most rural ‘gay’ bars are. Urban life skews a lot of this. But at 65, I love going to our local monthly drag shows at the VFW in a rural county where the mixed crowd is much more comfortable and sociable. And $200 bottle prices don’t exist!
